The Chassezac is the ideal river for relaxation and “farniente”.
Descending from the canyons of Lozère, this main tributary of the Ardèche winds through a vast valley before entering magnificent gorges in order to cross for 10 kilometers the limestone massif of the Païolive wood. It then travels across the plain before joining its illustrious neighbor Ardèche .
Canoe Kayak rental prices on the Chassezac : descents and open water
In the heart of the Chassezac gorges, two routes are available to you, 7 and 10 kilometers determined by the only possibilities for leaving the gorges.
The time you spend on the water is free. So you choose the pace of your navigation.
Example with the 7 km La Molette > Mazet route:
- Departure 10 a.m., arrival 12:30 p.m. in Mazet = 1/2 hour set-up.
- Departure 10 a.m., arrival 4 p.m. in Mazet = 2 hours of navigation, 2 one-hour swimming breaks, one hour for the picnic and one hour of strolling or sunbathing.
On departure we offer you a choice of numerous return times, and on arrival we will take you back by minibus. This is the opportunity to benefit from the driver's comments as you pass through the picturesque sites.

A ½ day, or 2 hours of navigation is enough to cover this route, which gives you plenty of time to enjoy the landscapes and take breaks whenever the desire arises. -

This less frequented section will allow you, even in high season, to enjoy the calm and serenity that this place inspires. A day for 3 hours of navigation is not too much for a picnic and to fully enjoy swimming and the landscape. -
