The "Rivières de France" Economic Interest Group (GIE), better known through its "Canoë France"® brand, is a group of independent canoe rental companies that have been covering the 14 main rivières de France.
As a leisure tourism provider, the group has always been innovative in the specific world of whitewater (the only existing network, it was, among other things, behind the creation of the National Federation of Canoe Rental Companies (FNPLCK), the sole representative body of the profession, bringing together around one hundred members).
Building on its leading position,
“Canoë France®” now offers, free of charge:
the first Canoe App in France
(and probably in the world…!)
Dedicated to recreational canoeing, it is compatible with Apple and Android. Developed by Kalkin (a startup from the Auvergne region, certified as a Young Innovative Company, specializing in outdoor digital applications)
Does your phone use Android?
Is your phone an iPhone?
Download the app here:
This new app allows you to:
- to find the nearest canoe river using geolocation
- to discover the specific characteristics of the river, as well as the routes offered
- to know the nearest canoe base and to access it easily
then during the activity:
- to locate oneself on the river
- to discover the available services (restaurants, campsites, shops…)
- to learn more about the river through its notable points (monuments, natural curiosities…)
- to pinpoint their exact location in case of difficulty so that assistance or rescuevienneas efficiently as possible
- to know the nearest landing in case of an early interruption (weather changes…)
Given the specific nature of the activity (gorges etc.), the app does not require permanent telephone network coverage (pre-loading of information)
This app is available for free download on the Apple and Android app stores.
This app, designed for tourists, is bilingual (French, English)
Experimental and innovative, this app is designed to be dynamic and evolve over the years. The 2017 version, already in development, will likely be more playful with ranking options:
Who was the fastest on a particular route?
Who covered the most kilometers on the network's rivers?
What is my average speed?
My scores and photos will be shared live on social media.
